The next beginner group is starting on Thursday 9th October 2014 7:30pm at the Nairn Community Centre. If you would like to take up running or get fit, then come along and join us for our Beginners' Group which is tailored for those who have never run before. Or maybe you would like to ease gently back into running again after having a break. We work as a group over the weeks and it is achievable for you to take part in our Turkey Trot on Boxing Day or even a 10k in the Spring if that is your aim.

On race day 5 of the beginners completed the fun run and 11 ran the 10k. Well done
to all as this was a huge achievement in 8 weeks for those who had never ran before the
start of the course and for those who had taken up running again and completed the 10k.
Our 12 week course completes at the end of March and we will all be joining up with the main
group on a club night and slotting into the various speed groups as the weeks progress.
Well done to all. The next start date will be later on the autumn and a date will be announced then.
Another beginners group have completed a 12-week course at the end of June and well done to all. Some of the group were complete beginners whilst others were getting back into running again. From starting off walking/jogging and being out for 20/25 minutes the group were soon setting their own pace and we stepped up to more running than walking and being out for 40 minutes or so and they were getting into the running bug of asking "how far have we ran”. The whole group has come on leaps and bounds and we have joined up with the main group on club nights and are even enjoying the "efforts" Thursdays. Some are also taking part in various organised runs and are aiming for the Dyke 10k in September, which they will complete with no problems at all. I have to thank my band of volunteers for their support during the 12weeks.

The club runs a dedicated beginners group, this is aimed at people that want to take up running and would enjoy being part of a club. The aim of the group is usually to take part in a local 10k and we start the training 12 weeks before the event, but there is nothing to stop a new beginner joining up at any time. The training consists of gentle timed walk/run sessions which are coached by Susan Smith.
